RULEI PHILOSOPHY

Cultivating the vineyard knowing its origin, its evolution, its features and, above all, respecting its production. Doing sustainable viticulture in order to respect the biodiversity and the natural resources. Elaboration of small quantities with the care and affection that only a small winery can provide its wines. Selecting the best vintages and the best possible grapes from the vineyards exploited with the optimal maturation of each variety. The result: artisanal and naturalwines with unexpected sensations and a unique identity. You will be surprised that is a Rioja!

The Vineyards

Good wine is made by the vineyard, not the oenologist. Without quality grapes, there is no quality wine.

WHAT IS RULEI?

It is the protagonist of a medieval history often forgotten.

It is a ruby that, according to legend, was in the crown of the Virgin of the Santa María la Real de Nájera monastery.

After the battle of Nájera in 1367 and the breach of payments for the services rendered by the “Black Prince”, Eduardo de Lancaster (Prince of Wales) to Pedro I “the Cruel” during the Castilian civil war between him and his half-brother Enrique II of Trastámara, the ruby passed into English hands.

Known since then as the Black Prince’s Ruby, it is the most famous spinel in the world, resting since 1838 in the center of the Imperial Crown of the British State, forged for Queen Victoria.

This precious stone is very inspiriting with its colour and its variety of tones, sensations that we try to communicate through our wines, result of our hard work.
